Dr. Black is a Board Certified pediatrician with midwestern roots. Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, she enjoys all aspects of pediatrics, and is especially interested in preventive medicine and asthma. Dr. Gretchen Black is one of our Lenexa West Pediatricians.
She was born in Omaha, NE, and raised in a career military family with frequent moves throughout the United States, mostly the Midwest.
She studied Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Washington in Seattle, then attended medical school at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa. Her Internship was in Pediatrics fast track program at Tulsa Regional Medical Center and was followed by a residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
Served in United States Air Force 2004-08. Was deployed in 2006 on a multispecialty humanitarian mission aboard USNS Mercy. Upon completion of her military service she joined Children’s Mercy South working in the Urgent Care/ER. She joined Heartland Primary Care as a general Pediatrician in February, 2012.
Married with three boys, Dr. Black enjoys reading for pleasure, home improvement projects and watching her three boys in their growth through school, sports and fun time activities.
