Why Should You Use Urgent Care?

At Sunflower Medical Group, we have three urgent care locations throughout the Kansas City metro area. We have a Kansas City, KS urgent care, a Lenexa area urgent care, and a Roeland Park, KS urgent care. We often get questions from patients asking us why they should choose an urgent care as opposed to a family doctor or emergency room. Let us break down the answers for you.

We Are Available Seven Days a Week & Late Hours

Most family doctors have set schedules and hours throughout the week that are not always conducive to most illnesses and injuries. We recommend visiting an urgent care physician if you are experiencing a non-life threatening illness or injury, such as pneumonia or a mild fracture, outside of your family doctor’s work hours. Our Sunflower Medical Group and Heartland Primary Care urgent care locations are available for patients Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and Sunday 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (check each location page for specific hours as they vary by location).

We Can Treat Non-Life Threatening Illnesses & Injuries

Our urgent care physicians have similar training to that of most emergency room medics and are trained to handle situations where family doctors are not available or equipped. They can treat the majority of non-life threatening illnesses and injuries, ranging from pneumonia and earaches to rashes and influenza.

You Do Not Need an Appointment

Urgent care clinics are similar to emergency rooms because patients do not need an appointment to see a physician. However, where they differ is price and wait time. Generally, urgent care clinics are less expensive than emergency rooms and the wait time to see a medical expert is shorter.
